Investigating of teachers' views on the adequacy of physical education and sports departments

The aim of this study is to investigating of teachers' views on the adequacy of physical education and sports departments. The search methodologies, quantitative and qualitative search methods, are used at the same time as mixed type. while case study pattern in qualitative research methods is used, descriptive method in qualitative search method is adopted.As inquiry group, for maximum variety samples 20 physical education teachers working at Provincial Directorate of National Education in Malatya, is composed and for qualitative search method 283 physical education teachers are chosen. For data gathering tool designed by researcher and composed by 18 questions in semi-structured form. And for qualitative search method ?Adequacy of Physical Education and Sports Departments Scale? (APESDS) is performed.The scale is composed of three sub branches which are built for testing curricula adequacy, the instructor adequacy and facility adequacy. For data analysis in qualitative data content analysis is performed and for quantitative data Kruskal Wallis H test and Mann Whitney U test are performed and significance level is determined as ?=0,05.Qualitative data of the study composed in three main themes curricula adequacy, the instructor adequacy and building and social facilities adequacy. In this work ?Adequacy of Physical Education and Sports Departments Scale? (APESDS) is designed. According to the Explanatory factor Analysis and confirmatory factor Analysis of the scale, it has three main themes curricula adequacy, the instructor adequacy and building and social facilities adequacy. By evaluation of quantitative data of the research, in Adequacy of Physical Education and Sports Departments. Statistical difference is found (p<0,05) in teachers age, graduation dates, experience period, colleague numbers in same school. On the other hand the evaluation of quantitative data of the research, in Adequacy of Physical Education and Sports Departments statistical difference is not reached(p>0,05) in sexuality, educational background, student population in working schools. As result, physical education teachers believes different to teachers curriculum between ministry of education physical education teachers thinks insufficient instructor and social and sports facility.
