Abstract (EN)
The current study aimed to investigate the perceived stress levels of the pre-service teachers and the manner used to cope with stress according to the variables of gender, grade and type of department. A total of 335 students of Afyon Kocatepe University's physical education and sports teaching and primary education departments in 2018-2019 academic year participated in the study. ''Perceived Stress Level Scale'' was performed to determine the perceived stress level of pre-service teachers and ''Scale to Cope with Stress'' was used to determine the strategies they frequently use to cope with stress. At the end of the study, it was found that the perceived stress levels of pre-service teachers showed significant differences according to gender and class variables (p <0.05); on the other hand, the perceived stress levels of the participants did not differ according to the variable of department (p> 0.05). In addition, it was found that the strategies used by pre-service teachers frequently in coping with stress showed a significant difference according to variables of gender, grade and department (p <0.05). As a result, it is possible to say that demographic variables are an important determinant of the perceived stress levels of pre-service teachers and the strategies they use to cope with stress.
