Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the study was to determine the risk factors on low back pain.The study was performed at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine Neurosurgical Surgery Department. The total of 220 patients who suffers from low back pain included to the study and their results compared with the results gathered from 215 healthy subjects. Demographic characteristics, risk factors such as smoking habits, number of births, and the time spent for operating vehicle were evaluated by using an evaluation chart. Functional limitations due to pain were determined by using Oswestry Questionary Scale. At the end of the study it was observed that smoking and standing more than 6-8 hours increase the risk of the low back pain. Determining the rise factors and the preventive-protective suggestions must be included the treatment of the low back pain which effects the subjects and society negatively.Key Words: Risk Factors, Low Back Pain
