Creating the model of sustainable recreation strategy in municipalities

Societies have some duties that they should adopt regardless of language, religion or race. One of them, which is extremely important, is that the planet we live in is a legacy left to us from past generations and to live without disturbing this heritage. In order for this to happen, it is necessary to adopt the practices of both society and municipalities that aim to leave a better living space for future generations. At the forefront of these practices is that municipalities, which are the most important mechanism between the state and society, have and implement sustainable recreation strategies. However, in practice, it is obvious that municipalities do not have any sustainable recreation strategy. This situation reveals the fact that the importance of recreation in social life is not understood by official institutions. Establishing a department under the title of recreation in municipalities and creating a recreation strategy model that municipalities can benefit from in order to increase the welfare of the society are essential issues. The aim of this study is to create a model of sustainable recreation strategies that municipalities can implement on the basis of municipalities. Qualitative research methods were used in the study. A literature review on sustainable recreation strategies was conducted through document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the managers of five metropolitan municipalities using the data obtained. Subsequently, the data obtained were used to determine codes and themes with academic faculty members in the field of recreation at universities.The strategies revealed after all the collected data were presented to the experts in the field of recreation with the Delphi technique, and when the saturation point was reached, they were terminated and a sustainable recreation strategy model was created. Creating a sustainable recreation strategy model for municipalities in our country; It will contribute to the increase of the livability level of the city, the development of the welfare level of the society, the quality of urban life and the creation of a city that supports social connections.
