The fictional approaches in documentary photography

A photo, how could be more effective? This is the most important question in all kinds of photography. A photo has to must compassion and aesthetics like pictures. Although it seems a contradiction especially documentary photography has to be much more aesthetics in fiction documents photo series in these days. It is now known that documentary photographers use various techniques before, during and after the shooting in order to be more effective and more aesthetic in their newest works. The main aim of this thesis, find the most iconic photos, and photographers how did they approach the occurring objects and peoples and which methods they used. In order to make more effective documentary photography, doing a photo with the techniques and methods of editing and how could change all of this together what should be from the past to the present? The method used in this study is a literature review and focus group interviews with six photography students. The discussions about whether a documentary photograph is fictional or not, based on the fictional methods used by selected photographers, are discussed with sample photographs. Also with this documentary photography samples trying to find which photo more effective than the same series or same subjects with focus groups. Contrary to popular known, many documentary photographs that have gone down in history have been produced with a fictional method. With this researches, today is more important for many documentary photographers are finding a more effective way than the discussion of whether or not the use of fiction in documentary photography is ethical or not.
