Abstract (EN)

Self esteem which is a part of psychological health, plays a role in decision making. Individual's self esteem is a factor that changes the direction of their decisions. The concept of decision making in people's everyday life can effect the course of their lives. The level of development of individuals decision making abilities is thought to be linked to their personality traits and socialization rates. Personal differences also reveal decision-making styles. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between self esteem and decision making styles of membership on non-governmental women. The sample of the study consists of 248 women who work in non-governmental organizations established by women in Mersin Yenişehir district, which is reached by simple random sampling method. In this research, "Personal Information Form", "Self-Esteem Scales," Decision Making Styles Scale "have been used. As a result of the analyzes, statistically negative-directional weak relationship was found between self-esteem and rational decision-making style; between avoidance, spontaneous-instantaneous decision-making styles a statistically positive-directional weak relationship has been determined. There is no relationship between self-esteem and intuitive and dependent decision making styles. Another result of this research, has been found that the self-esteem of women did not differ according to age, marital status, working condition, how long a member has been a member of a non-governmental organization, how long they have spent a week in a non-governmental organization and number of the non-governmental organizations. But there was a significant difference between self-esteem and educational status and monthly income situation. Self-esteem scale scores of women with education level primary school the higher than the self-esteem scale scores of women with other levels of education. The self-esteem scale scores of women with income status of 2020 TL and below were higher than the self-esteem scale scores of women with higher income status. In addition, a statistically significant difference were determined between the decision making styles and the variables of age, educational status, marital status, working status, monthly income, duration of membership of a non-governmental organizations and number of non-governmental organizations.
