The mediating effect of decision-making styles on the effect of personality traits on managerial silence: A study of 3, 4 and 5 star hotel businesses operating in the Southeast Anatolia Region

The aim of this thesis study is to reveal the mediating effect of "decision-making styles" in the relationship between "managerial silence" and "five factor personality" characteristics of employees working as managers in 3, 4 and 5 star hotels operating in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. On the other hand, within the scope of the research, the reasons for executive silence, the effect of personality traits on managers' silence, and the relationship between personality traits and decision-making styles were investigated.The questionnaire developed for this purpose was applied by the researcher between May and October of 2022 in the hotels in the region based on the full count method.In this context, the questionnaire was applied to 286 people working as managers in hotel businesses, but the missing and incorrect questionnaires were excluded from the research and the research was concluded with 250 questionnaires.The data collected within the scope of the research were analysed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 package programs.As a result of the research, it has been determined that there is a negative and significant relationship between personality traits and executive silence, and a positive and significant relationship between decision-making styles and executive silence.In addition, it has been determined that decision-making styles have a mediating role in the effect of personality traits on decision-making styles.
