Abstract (EN)
When it is said ?capital?, material values such as the money, machinery, and equipment, come to the mind. These material values are physical capital. Moreover, it should be mentioned about a person?s self made investments which are not based on materials. These kind of investments in economy are called as human capital. This study which is about the role and importance of human capital in economic development consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, the definition, the features and historical development of human capital are mentioned. In the second chapter, the reasons of development are explained by mentioning the definition of the concept of development, the elements preventing development, development theories, models, policies and development objecitives and means of development. In the third chapter, through the help of the evidence derived from the first and second chapter, the power of the influence of human capital on development is searched by the help of health and education datas which are the indicators of human capital.
