European Union is a successful organization in an integration way with series enlargements since its inception. The organization has been of utmost importance on the agenda of Turkey for the last 10 years. Especially, the decision to open the Turkey-EU accession for negotiation on December 2004 Brussels European Council, European Countries have been forced to re-examine the Europe integration. Croatia and Turkey have nearly equal negotiation framework in this process. But ?equivalence? is not understood only to deal different subjects like the others. Turkey is different from the subjects of the past enlargement experiences, and this dissimilarity cause some issues in practice. The subject matter of this study is the integration of Eastern Block countries to the EU after the cold war and the issues in practice of Turkey?s negotiation. With the opening of negotiations, there have been improvements that have carried the relations of Turkey-EU to the different level. This thesis study aims to highlight the demands of EU from Turkey which show differences from the ones with other new members during the process of negotiations that is not only technical, but also `political and under close observation (scrutiny)?. For this purpose, the history of Europe?s enlargements, the performance of the last 10 members and the political and legal obstacles Turkey will encounter during negotiations have been considered.
