Urban development and spatial properties of Beyoğlu

"Urban Development and Spatial Properties of Beyoğlu" project is a master thesis prepared with human geography perspective within the scope of urban geography. The functions of Beyoğlu city was investigated with its location, its state of establishment and evaluation of progress and evolution within historical process. The topics of properties of the city, the interaction between its functions and the field, its social and economical structure, population characteristics and settlement situation are discussed in the study. The biggest reason to focus on Beyoğlu is although there are many studies on its settlement area, especially the human geography perspective is left out. Data from various institutions and organizations were collected for the study. These data were analyzed with programs and their connections with the place was evaluated and interpreted. Besides academic readings, the develeopment of the field was observed at the place with many field work. Beyoğlu was studied with urban geography principles and this was compared with other geographical properties of the city. Thus, its development was presented with cause and effect relation.
