Bezirgan Hazım Kılıç pond (Daday-Kastamonu)'s water quality examination

In this study, some of the chemical and physical parameters in water samples were measured taken from 3 stations on Bezirgan Hazım Kılıç Pond, which is located within the borders of Daday district of Kastamonu province, between September 2016 and August 2017. These stations were located in the south side, east side and northwestern side of Daday Bezirgan Hazım Kılıç pond. The south side of the pond is Brook Kolan, which water inlet into pond. Throughout the study, samples were taken monthly from the sampling stations and the values (general mean, standard deviation, and seasonal mean) obtained during 12 months were examined. The samples taken from all three sampling stations were examined 28 physico-chemical parameters in terms of dissolved oxygen (mg/L), salinity (‰), pH, temperature (°C), electrical conductivity, suspended solid matters (mg/L), chemical oxygen demand (mg/L), biological oxygen demand (mg/L), chloride (mg/L), phosphate (mg/L), sulphate (mg/L), sulphite (mg/L), sodium (mg/L), potassium (mg/L), total hardness (mg/L), total alkalinity (mg/L), magnesium (mg/L), calcium (mg/L), nitrite (mg/L), nitrate (mg/L), ammonium salt (mg/L), ferrous (mg/L), lead (µg/L), copper (µg/L), cadmium (µg/L), mercury (µg/L), nickel (µg/L), and zinc (µg/L) (totally 28 parameters), in order to determine the water quality, The annual mean values of the physico-chemical parameters were statistically compared between the seasons. It was determined that Bezirgan Hazım Kılıç Pond has Class III water quality level according to the Surface Water Quality Management Regulation (SWQMR) "Classified intra-continental water source quality chart" which takes place in water quality management regulation. According to the SWQMR criteria, it can be seen that there is no remarkable pollution problem in the pond.
