Determination of yield and quality traits of silage maize varieties in Bilecik ecological conditions

The study the ecological conditions of Bilecik during was conducted to determine agricultural and quality characteristics of 24 silage maize varieties (Arifiye, ADA-523, ADA-9510, ADA-9516, AGA, Sakarya, Samada-07, Kalideas, Kervanos, Kerbanis, Kilowatt, Kolessous, Simpatico, P2015, P9027, PR31G98, P2088, DKC6442, DKC6308, SY-İnove, SY-Gladius, SY-Antex, Dragma, Larigal )in during the 2020 year. The study, which was prepared according to the Random Blocks Trial Design, was established with three replications. In the silage corn varieties harvested at dough stage and, plant height, stem diameter, number of leaf, number of ear, first ear height, ear weight and hay yield, crude protein content, crude protein yield, acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), potassium (K), phosphorus (P), calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) content were investigated. According to the results of one year; plant height 2.13-3.35 m, stem diameter 1.94-2.67 cm, number of leaf 12.27-17.40, number of ear 1.07-1.73, first ear height 0.73-1.72 m, ear weight 314.53-560.07 gr. respectively. The highest dry matter yield was determined in Ada-9516 (3338.67 kg/da), SY-Gladius (3302.67 kg/da), SY-İnove (3289.67kg/da), ve DKC-6308 (3258.00 kg/da), while the lowest was in Kilowatt (1983.00 kg/da). According to the results of one year; crude protein content ranged between % 7.62 -10.64. The highest crude protein yield was determined DKC-6442 (341.55 kg/da), PR31G98 (331.05 kg/da), SY-Gladius (320.81 kg/da), DKC-6308 (316.95 kg/da), DRAGMA (310.64 kg/da), ADA-9516 (308.51 kg/da) and AGA (306.10 kg/da), while the lowest was Simpatico (163.82 kg/da). The ADF ve NDF ratios ranged between % 31.52 -47.56 and % 47.13-66.39, respectively. The mineral content of maize varieties for silage was at a level to meet the needs of the livestock. In this respect, ADA-9510, Sakarya, DKC6442, DKC6308, SY-Gladius and Dragma varieties performed better than other maize varieties in terms of hay yield, protein yield, and relative feed value.
