Importance of tacit knowledge in knowledge economy and tacit knowledge resources in creating advantage in competition: An application in Şirince

SUMMARYIn our present time, knowledge is an indispensable process that affects allcommunities. It is a quite important power for humanity. It is the prerequisite ofcompetition and the name of the change. Shortly, it is an indispensable source. It bringsspeed and effectiveness. Therefore, it plays the key role for the economy. Theimprovements in knowledge economy affect production-consumption network anddevelopment, and it creates an innovation-based and network-oriented structure. Thus,production becomes more efficient and economy becomes a more live one.Tacit knowledge is defined as the knowledge which can not be gathered in adefinite time, and can be felt in the minds of individuals but can not be transferred. Tacitknowledge is divided into two as tacit knowledge directed to the individual and the onedirected to the neighborhood. The tacit knowledge directed to the individual depends onexperience and experiment. It is reflected by actions and behavior. The Master-Apprenticeis important in its formation. The difficulty of imitating it brings some competitiveadvantages. Neighborhood-focused tacit information shows itself with cultural, historicaland physical/and neighborhood information. The gathering of superiority in competitionbecomes meaningful with the discovery and embodiment of tacit knowledge. Embodimentis possible by means of taking model, narration, the techniques of interview, taking photos,turning it into written sources (book, article etc.) publishing it in the form ofvideo/CD/DVD and creating documentaries.The relations between knowledge technologies that have come into existence withthe process of knowledge economy (internet, video/CD/DVD etc.) and the tacit knowledgeresources in Şirince. The influence of knowledge technologies onto tacit knowledgeresources has been taken as the subject. From the statistical data gathered in the study, ithas been seen that Şirince is a tacit resource and knowledge technologies have impacts onŞirince. Consequently, it has been predicted knowledge technology will contribute to theeconomy of Şirince.
