Abstract (EN)
Relativist attitudes, which are in fashion in contemporary period, appear in various domains. Aforesaid relativist arguments become efficient especially in philosophy of science. Therefore these relativist attitudes and criticism of these attitudes with a realistic viewpoint constitute the basic subject of our study. In the first part of our study, we have mentioned relativist points of arguments of Thomas Khun and Paul Feyerabend who have an important position in contemporary philosophy of science and made indelible impression with their understanding of science. Aforesaid philosophers have great influence in providing a basis for postmodern arguments in contemporary period. For this reason these philosophers were seen as relativist elements in contemporary period and criticised by the ones with realistic viewpoints. In the second part of the study there are critics made by Jhon Searle and Alan Sokal with a realistic point of view on aforementioned relativist understandings of science. These critics are about incommensurate aspects of relativism and the adverse outcomes of it. Alan Sokal as a physicist has produced original critics on postmodern understanding in his works discussed with his workmate Bricmont. In our work we have referred only some point of these critics which are about philosophy of science and epistomology. John Searle, on the other hand, has a role as a realistic philosopher in our study, besides a part of philosophy of science. With similar realistic worries that of Sokal, and his opinions about reality and objectivity he has an important role in objectivist attitudes.
