The significance of the representation of science women in science museums

Museology stands out as one of the most important cultural institutions that play a major role in transferring the historical and cultural heritage to the next generations; however, the transferred cultural heritage should represent history as it is. This situation is only possible if the representations in the museum are made effective enough. In this context, it has been observed that women scientists play an important role as much as men in the formation of science and the shaping of discoveries. Concordantly, the representation of women in science museums and museums built on behalf of them are investigated in this study by focusing basically on female scientists. In addition, two museums in France and Poland opened in the name of Marie Curie and one museum opened in London in the name of Florence Nightingale are examined in this study. As a result of the research, it is determined that the representation of women science museums was below expectations. On the other hand, it is seen that masculine approaches are effective in the dim representation of female scientists in science museums.
