Abstract (EN)

The primary objective of this study is to ascertain the challenges experienced by parents of gifted children attending Science and Art Centers. In line with this objective, a study was conducted with 113 parents whose children attended the Batman Science and Art Center during the 2022-2023 academic year. Beyond having gifted children, this research aimed to investigate the difficulties parents encountered during their children's attendance at the Science and Art Center, their perspectives regarding the center, the obstacles they faced, their expectations, and potential solutions. The results of this study were examined and evaluated through quantitative research methods using the descriptive survey model and content analysis technique. The results of the study indicate that parents of gifted children struggle with recognizing their children's talents, understanding their mental and social personalities, establishing effective communication with them, and solving problems. Additionally, issues related to the Batman Science and Art Center were identified, including the incompatibility of class schedules and workshops with the children's regular school hours, as well as challenges faced by children in attending both regular schools and the science and art center, such as transportation and meal expenses. In order to address these challenges, recommendations have been made, including providing parents with training on raising gifted children by experts, offering free transportation to the Science and Art Center, and providing scholarship opportunities for the children.
