Statistical analysis of the relationship between information technologies and functionality and predicting with machine learning algorithms

Information technology (IT) enables different organizations to operate more efficiently and maximize productivity. It is important in today's world to investigate the relationship between information technologies and the quality of organizational performance. Historical development stages in production, especially experienced by developed countries industrially, are very important for developing countries. It is very important to raise awareness of the importance and impact of IT in terms of quality performance of the organization, in other words, the functionality of the organization. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between IT usage, the ability of the organization's employees to use IT, and the functionality of the organization in three Libyan organizations in the city of Alkhoms. Three subscales were used to investigate the research hypotheses: IT use in the organization, the ability of employees to use IT, and organizational functionality. In this context, the answers of two hundred and forty-three participants to the questionnaire items were analyzed statistically. Statistical analysis results show that the use of IT in organizations and the ability of employees to use IT have an impact on the organizational functionality target variable. In addition, it was observed that there were no major differences in the organization functionality in terms of the demographic characteristics of the participants except their marital status. Moreover, experimental studies were conducted to predict the organization's functionality target variable with different regression models using demographic properties, IT use and employees' IT ability. The results obtained with the regression algorithms showed that it is not possible to make predictions only with demographic characteristics, IT usage and employees' IT ability should be used in the machine learning approach.
