The effect of information technologies competency on knowledge management of enterprises

Abstract (EN)

Enterprises use raw data obtained from internal and external environment by converting them into information. In such environment, information is created continuously, renewed and recorded accordingly to continue their activities. In this way, as an important process for information management, information can be produced in line with a common purpose and shared and used by all parties concerned in all business processes. This research was conducted to determine the level of interaction between the information technologies used by enterprises and the dimensions of knowledge management. The main objective of this research is to determine the effects of Information Technologies, Information Technology Applications and knowledge Technology Tools which are defined as dimensions of knowledge management, usage, collection and sharing. Research has been conducted in Borsa İstanbul A.Ş.(BİAŞ), Central Registry Agency Inc. (MKK) and Takasbank A.Ş., all of which operates in İstanbul. In the light of the findings obtained out of a total of 269 questionnaires answered, the factors that need to be taken into consideration in terms of information management dimensions and competence level of information technologies are discussed. The related data obtained out of questionnaires were evaluated by using SPSS 25 program and the hypotheses included in the research were tested. As a result of the research, it was determined that there are positive and meaningful relationships between information technologies and information management dimensions. The research consists of three chapters, information management in the first part and information technologies in the second part are explained with general frameworks. In the third part of our study, a research model prepared to analyze the effects of information technologies on knowledge management in the enterprises and a survey study related to this model are included. As a result, it has been analyzed to what extent the competence of information technologies and knowledge management are affected in the enterprises companies participating in the research. In this part of the research, also the results and suggestions related to the research are given. By comparing these results with the data in the current literature, the effect of IT competency on knowledge management is discussed. This section concludes with recommendations for enterprises and researchers.
