Abstract (EN)

Earthquakes have posed a significant threat throughout human history, especially in areas with high seismic activity. One way to mitigate this threat is through seismic isolators that limit lateral oscillations in buildings. However, the effectiveness of these isolators can vary depending on their rigidity factor. In this study, the impact of the rigidity of seicmic isolators on the lateral oscillations in buildings was examined. Particular emphasis was placed on the design of elastomeric isolators, and analyses were conducted considering different ground types, vibration periods, and load capacities. The aging of these isolators over time and the changes in their rigidity due to environmental conditions have been evaluated in conjunction with their effects on the structure. This thesis aims to contribute to the literature by promoting informed selection and design of earthquake isolators and seeks to enhance not only structural engineering practices but also the overall safety and resilience of society.
