The effect of different sowing methods on the grain yield and some yield characteristics of teff (Eragrostis tef [Zucc] Trotter) in Bingol province

This work; was carried out to determine the effect of different sowing methods on yield and some yield characteristics of Teff (Eragrostis tef [Zucc.] Trotter) in Bingol province. The study was carried out in Bingol University Faculty of Agriculture Research and Application area, which is 10 km away from Bingol city center in the field season in 2019. A kind of teff seed was used as a material in the research. The field experiment was established in randomized complete block design with different row spacings (10-20-30-40-50 cm) with four replications. Hand sowing was done on the drawings opened with the marker in July. According to the research findings; average values of teff plant cultivated in different row spacing; plant height 95.91 cm, stem diameter 1.86 mm, forage yield 2561.65 kg/da, dry matter yield 906.73 kg/da, grain yield 135,38 kg/da, biological yield was 1480.50 kg/da, thousand grain weight was 0.215 g, crude protein yield was 152.70 kg/da. Average values of teff plant cultivated in different row spacing; acid detergent fiber (ADF) value 35.16%, neutral detergent fiber (NDF) value 62.83%, raw ash rate 9.72%, crude protein ratio 16.77%, dry matter digestible (DMD), value 61.5%, dry matter intake (DMI), 1.918% and the relative feed value (RFV) was found to be 91.25. As a result; it can be said that the distance between the rows of 30 and 40 cm is suitable for the cultivation of teff for grass and 40 cm for the cultivation of teff for grain in Bingol ecological conditions. It is concluded that the results we obtained in this study, which was conducted as a preliminary study under controlled conditions, should be supported with field studies for at least two years in order to become more meaningful.
