The comparasion of knowledge level of single child and multiple child mothers on lactation breastfeeding

SUMMARYBreast milk of mother is a neccessity for babies to grow healthy. The idealnourishment for the babies is the nourishment with breast milk of mother between the othertypes. The breast feed constitutes the emotional relationalship between mother and baby. Thecustom of starting to feed the baby with breast milk is very common in our country. However,staring to feed the babies with additional food, makes lessen the breast feeding continiutyand the period of babies to be fed by the breast milk of mother shorter. It is very importantthat all the mothers should be adopted by the idea of importance of feeding the baby with thebreast. Milk of mother and should be known the right way of applying it.The aim of this work is to determine and compare the knowledge level of breastmilk of mother and to point out the importance of feeding the babies with it. 300 motherswho gave birth recently at the Zübeyde Hanım Birth Hospital and AfyonkarahisarKocatepe, Reserch and practice Hospital Clinic of birth department in Afyonkarahisar, arencluded to our research. 150 of them have one child, the rest 150 have more than one child.The data was collected by interviewing the mothers face to face by developing theform of this puplic survey by the reseacher. The data was utulized by the test of che-squareIn this study, it is seen that, 46 percent of the mothers who have one child are 22-26years age group and 35,3 percent of the mothers who have more than one child are in thesame age group.When it is reseached as the place of where the both mothers group live in, it is foundthat 24 percent of the mothers who have one child live in villages or town where 29,3 percentof the mothers who have more than one child live. When we reseach the education ofmothers, it is seen that the education level was determined in the low level. When the incomeof mothers was recearch, it is determined that 41,3 percent of the mothers who have one childare in the low income group, and 51,3 percent of the mothers who have more than one childare in the same group. The 67,3 percent of the mothers who have one child and are includedto this study, has not received any information about baby feeding and breast milk and it isalso seen 64 percent of the mothers who have more than one child and are included to thisstudy. There is not a big differances between both groups. (p>0.05) In this study, it is asked tothe mothers ?How do you understant if your baby is fed on the right way with the breast milkof mother?? 60,7 percent of the mothers who have one child and 57,3 percent of the motherswho have more than one child did not answer the question correctly. There is not a bigdifferences between both groups(p>0.05)It is necessity to inform the employees in the health sector who give the service aboutthe breast milk of mother and feeding the baby with it and to support with the education in theservice and to give education to widespread the feding the babies with breast milk of motherto all the community in the country.Key Words: Breast Milk, Breast Feding, Knowledge, Collostrum, Baby Friend Hospital
