Abstract (EN)

Clinical Evaluation of a Bulk-Fill Composite The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance of a bulk-fill composite resin and a packable microhybrid composite resin applied to class II cavities for 18 months according to FDI criteria. A total of 100 restorations were performed in 58 patients by one operator. A maximum of two teeth were restored and different restorative materials were selected randomly for each teeth. Bulk-fill composite resin (X-tra fil, Voco, GmbH Cuxhaven, Germany) was placed in one group (n = 50) in a single bulk of 4 mm. The second group (n=50) was applied to the packable composite resin (Filtek P60, 3M ESPE, Germany) in 2 mm layers. One adhesive system (Clearfil SE Bond, Kuraray Dental, Japan) was used for both restorative materials. Restorations were evaluated by two different researchers according to FDI criteria after one week (baseline), six months, 12 months and 18 months. Statistical analysis of the data were performed using Mann-Whitney U-Test, Friedman, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Bonferroni correction. Restorations showed statistically significant differences in all of the aesthetic criteria and several functional criteria depending on the time (p˂0.01). However, no statistically significant difference was observed for all evaluation criteria in all evaluation periods between the restorative materials after 18 months (p>0.05). In this clinical study comparing the clinical performance of a bulkfil composite resin (X-tra fil) with a packable microhybrid composite (P60) for 18 months, both composite materials were found to be successful according to FDI criteria.
