Leasing and financing tool as Konya Organized Industrial Zone research

Leasing is a widely used method of financing for the investments of businesses in today's globalized world. Leasing is based on the logic of "wealth is best acquired by using an asset rather than owning it". It is an alternative method of investment financing to satisfy the needs of a business. Leasing is a contract issued for a certain period of time between lesser and lessee, which keeps property rights at the lesser and right to use at the lessee. Leasing, which is regarded as one of the best indicators of financial situation in a country, is started to use in Turkey in 1985 and over the years its usage has increased. Although there is a relative increase in the transaction volume, the share of leasing transactions in the financial sector stayed low when compared to developed countries and could not reach to the desired level. The upward trend in leasing trancsactions in Turkey has started to disappear in the latest years. Our goal in this study is to explain the general characterics of leasing as a financing tool for businesses. In the application part of the study, we surveyed businesses in Konya Organized Industrial Site in the city of Konya in order to understand their perspective on leasing as a financing method.
