The Qur'an's tafseer with the qur'an as a method -the example of Mohammed Al-Amin Shanqiti

It is known that with distancing from the period of revelation, a curtain was formed in front of understanding the verses and that various efforts were made to open this curtain. Therefore, in the early periods, it was said that tafseer was only the observation of the Companions, and tafseer and taveel were positioned separately and there was a struggle to prevent arbitrary interpretations based on personal opinions. As a result of this situation, some scholars -who lived in periods when the activity of haphazard interpretation that did not have any foundation increased made suggestions about tafseer methods both to set a framework for understanding and interpreting the Quran correctly and to open a space for personal opinions without personal desires and interests. The explanation of a verse that no commentator could be satisfied with on the grounds of the integrity of the Quran with the reference of other verses and its systematization can be seen as a scientific and theoretical answer by Ibn Taymiyya (d. 728/1328) to some sects that interpret the Qur'an in arbitrary ways like Khurufiyyah and Baṭeniyyah. In this case, it can be said that the interpretation of the Quran with the Qur'an, which was systematized for the first time by Ibn Taymiyya, although its practical roots date back to much earlier dates, emerged as a measure to restrict the subject's field of logical interpretation. However, this method created by Ibn Taymiyya to preserve the tradition of tafseer also contains some problems in itself. Muhammad Ameen Ash-Shanqeeti (d. 1974), one of the last period interpreters who form the sample of our thesis, states that his purpose in his tafseer is to interpret the Qur'an with the Qur'an to bring the believers who break away from the essence of the Quran closer to the word of Allah again. Our aim in this study is to examine the interpretation of the Quran with the Quran as an issue by determining the problems of the aforementioned method through the interpretation of Ash-Shanqeeti named Adwaae al-Bayaan, which follows the salafi line developed by Ibn Taymiyya, and to present our findings and suggestions about how the related method should be.
