Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to evaluate the nutritional status, sleep quality and depression status of college girls living in a dormitory. The study was conducted with 300 university students between the ages of 19-28. Data were obtained from the students by interviewing face to face with a questionnaire. The questionnaire includes questions to determine the general characteristics and eating habits of the students.24-hour food consumption records of the students were recorded, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale and Beck Depression Scale were applied. 14,7% of the students smoke, 26,3% use alcohol and 19,0% regularly do physical activity. The average number of main meals consumed per day is 2,3 ± 0,6, and the number of snacks is 1,0 ± 1,0. The amount of energy students take daily is on average 1521 ± 483 kcal. The average BMI value of the students is 21,4 ± 3,2 kg / m². According to the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale results, 70,3% of the students have good sleep quality. According to the Beck Depression Scale results, 53.6% of the students have normal depression levels. A significant relationship was found between the sleep quality of students and their smoking, alcohol consumption, and the presence of illness. (p<0,05) . There is a significant correlation between sleep quality and where lunch and evening meals are consumed (p <0,05). A negative correlation was found between the sleep quality and BMI values of the students, and a positive correlation was found between the dietary fiber intake (g) (p <0,05). There is a significant relationship between the sleep quality of students and their depression status (p <0,05). A statistically significant relationship was found between students' depression status, alcohol consumption, regular physical activity, presence of illness and BMI classification (p<0,05). It was found that there was a positive (p <0,05) relationship between depression and BMI and the amount of carbohydrate (g) taken with the diet, a negative relationship with the number of dietary vitamin A (mcg) and the number of main meals consumed (p <0,05). Students should be educated about depression, adequate and balanced nutrition, increasing their physical activities, increasing their sleep quality, and studies should be carried out to increase their awareness on these issues.
