Determining the proficiency of guitar lesson students in individual instruments with harmony and accompaniment course outcomes and work analysis

This study aims to determine the competencies of students, who have successfully completed the Harmony and Accompaniment courses and are taking Individual Instrument Training (Guitar) courses in the Departments of Music Education within the Departments of Fine Arts Education of the Faculties of Education, in terms of the achievements they have gained from the Harmony and Accompaniment courses and their proficiency in analyzing musical pieces. The research was conducted using the descriptive survey method, one of the quantitative research methods. The sample of the study consists of students studying at education faculties in the Black Sea Region. In the research, the course contents were determined by examining the Bologna Course Information Packages, and a guitar piece suitable for these contents was selected and analyzed by the researcher. Expert opinions were sought to ensure the accuracy of the analyses and the development of the scoring system, and necessary adjustments were made. The obtained data were analyzed using a scoring chart created based on expert evaluations. The results show that Harmony and Accompaniment courses play a significant role in enhancing students' proficiency in analyzing musical pieces. The findings indicate that the duration of the Harmony and Accompaniment courses is insufficient for developing students' harmonic analysis skills and that the course topics are not fully covered.
