The Attitudes of Primary Health Care Physicians Toward Following Current Guidelines And Rationale Laboratory Tests Use Aim:Strict struggle against diabetes mellitus which is one of the most common chronic diseases in our country and in the world, will reduce complications. In addition, the workload of secondary and tertiary health care institutions will be reduced.The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of the primary care physicians in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of diabetes mellitus disease, and to follow the current treatment guidelines. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out between June 01, 2018 - December 01, 2018 with participation of physicians working in the of 32 Family Health Centers within the borders of Çorum province and 43 Family Health Centers in 13 districts in Çorum. This study was a cross-sectional study, 78 male (75,7%), 25 female (24,3%) were interviewed face to face with a total of 103 physicians,the sub-section and total scores were compared from the questionnaire that evaluated the knowledge and attitudes in the diagnosis and follow-up of diabetes among the groups formed according to some descriptive characteristics of the physicians. Results: Who participated in this study 90,3% were family physicians, 9,7% were family physician specialists. When the distribution of physicians according to age was examined, it was observed that 52% of the physicians were between the ages of 40-49 and 24% were between the ages of 30-39. As a result of the comparison made by the participants on the correct answers given to all departments and sub-sections, the total number of answers and scores of the female family physicians (p=0,008), family medicine specialists' score to know the diagnostic criteria (p=0,019), according to the followers of current diabetes guidelines, the scores of the diagnostic criteria (p=0,001), HbA1c follow-up scores (p=0,045) and total scores (p=0,005) were found to be significantly higher than others. Conclusion: The attitude and knowledge levels of family physicians should be increased in Diabetes Mellitus, one of the most common chronic diseases in the world.By providing post-graduation training, sharing the current diabetes guidelines with physicians will enable a more effective fight against diabetes and its complications.
