Problems and solution suggestions related to the learning-teaching process with merge classes: Ağrı province example

The education system is one of the most important building blocks of social development. However, the difficulties encountered especially in schools in rural areas bring about problems of equality and quality in education. Merge classes stand out as an educational model used in cases where the number of students is insufficient and the need for teachers cannot be fully met. In these classes, students of different ages and grade levels receive education in the same classroom. This situation brings about a complex and challenging learning-teaching process for teachers. In this study, the problems related to the learning-teaching process experienced in multigrade classes in Ağrı province and the solution suggestions for these problems are discussed. The research aims to comprehensively examine the experiences and difficulties experienced by teachers working in multigrade classes and students studying in these classes. At the same time, various solution suggestions are presented in order to increase the quality of education in these classes and to provide a more efficient learning environment. In our thesis study, first of all, a general information is given about the definition of multigrade classes and their situation in Turkey. Then, the field study conducted in Ağrı province and the findings obtained from this study are analyzed. Finally, suggestions are developed to increase the effectiveness of multigrade classes in line with the obtained data. Keywords: Multigrade Class, Village Schools, Principal Authorized Teacher
