Effect of black carrot extract to rat tissues induced bi̇sfenol A

Abstract (EN)

Black carrot juice has many molecules that show antioxidant properties. Bisphenol A (BFA) is known to cause harm to humans. In this study, the effects of black carrot juice against oxidative stress induced by BFA in rats were investigated. In the experiment, control group (K), BFA group (B), Black carrot juice group (S), BFA + Black carrot juice (BS) group were formed. MDA and GSH levels, Acetylcholinesterase (AChE), Carboxylesterase (CaE) and glutathione-S-transerase (GST) enzyme activities were measured in the brain, liver and testis tissues of rats. B group MDA levels increased in all three tissues (p <0.01, p <0.001). It was determined that BS group MDA level decreased in all three tissues compared to B group. In testis tissue, CaE enzyme activity level decreased in group B (p<0.001). In testis tissue, BS group CaE enzyme activity increased compared to B group (p <0.001). Liver tissue CaE enzyme activity level was decreased in B, S and BS groups compared to group K. B group GST level decreased in liver tissue compared to group K (p <0.05). In the liver, BS group GST level increased compared to B group (p <0.05). B group AChE enzyme activity level increased in brain tissue compared to K group (p <0.001). In the brain, BS group AChE enzyme activity level decreased compared to B group (p <0.05). According to our results, the oxidative stress caused by BFA reduced black carrot juice.
