Abstract (EN)
Due to the goepolitical position of our country, transportation becomes more important in every field. Advantages such as allowing the cargo to be transported flexibility and quickly over short and medium distances in road transportation and providing door to door transportation increase the importance of the highway in transportation. The increase in the demand for road transport brings with it the need to extend the life of the road superstructure and reduce its cost. In recent years, efforts to increase the performance of asphalt pavements have gained importance in order to minimize the deformations that will occur over time in highway pavements. For this reason, various studies are carried out to increase the performance of asphalt coating mixtures by using various additives. In this thesis, the usability of glass fiber as an additive in hot bituminous mixtures was investigated. The glass fiber used was used in three categories as short, medium and long. Short fiber glass is 4 mm long and 0,75%, 1%, 1,5% by weitght, medium glass fiber is 12,5 mm long and 0,75%, 1%, 1,5% by weitght lastly long glass fiber lenght glass fiber is 22,5 mm long and 0,75%, 1%, 1,5% by weight were used. A total of 30 samples, 27 Marshall samples and 3 reference samples, were prepared in three groups from each length of fibers. Basic mechanical and physical tests specified in the highway technical specifications were carried out. Marshall stability values, yield, density, VMA, Vf and Vh values were obtained. Thus, the mechanical and physical properties of fiber ratio and fiber length variation on the hot asphalt mixture were investigated. As a result of the examination, it was observed that the mechanical properties of 0,75% glass fiber reinforced bituminous hot mixtures increased compared to other ratios according to Marshall stability test values.
