Abstract (EN)

Lignocellulosic materials which are difficult to digest from the substrates used in biogas production adversely affect reactor performance. Various pretreatment methods are employed to improve the reactor performance by facilitating their digestion. In the alkali method, one of these methods, the biomass (substrate) is pretreated with a basic solution such as sodium hydroxide. In this study, wheat straw, which is easyto supplyand abundant in the region, was preferred as lignocellulosic material. Due to the high alkaline properties of Lake Van water, its usability as an alternative to NaOH was investigated in this context. In the pretreatment process, wheat straw was exposed to NaOH(R4, R5, R6) and Van Lake water(R1, R2, R3) for five days and then combined with sludge to monitor biogas output. The amounts of gas released are R1 = 2094.50 mL CH4, R2 = 2171.97 mL CH4, R3 = 481.22 mL CH4, R4 = 325.66 mL CH4, R5 = 2623.81 mL CH4, R6 = 809, 69 mL CH 4.According to the data, the water of Lake Van performed as close to NaOH as expected. In this study, economic evaluation was also made. In the pretreatment of wheat straw, a lignocellulosic substrate for biogas production, it was concluded that the use of Lake Van water instead of NaOH was economical.
