Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the environmental impact during the production of electrical energy from biogas and for this purpose, the Life Cycle Assessment approach was applied. As a biogas production process, mixed anaerobic fermentation of bovine wastes and vegetable wastes is considered. The functional unit was determined as 1 kWh electricity generation, and the system limits were applied as "cradle-to-door". Foreground data for the inventory phase were provided from a real plant and literature, while the ecoinvent database was used for background data. LCA calculations were performed using licensed SimaPro 9.1 software using ReCiPe It was made with the 2016 Midpoint method for 13 impact categories included in the method. As an alternative to the operation of the existing facility, the scenarios of using completely vegetable waste in the facility, using completely animal waste and converting biogas to biomethane were also evaluated as alternative applications. Characterization results were obtained in general negative values. Negative values were waste It is due to the use of heat in the facility and the sale of solid fermented product as fertilizer. When the existing system and alternatives are compared, the current situation with mixed waste application is compared to 100% plant or 100% animal waste applications. It has been seen that it has a higher value in terms of net benefit, while the application of biomethane does not provide great environmental gains.
