Abstract (EN)
The body which has been at the center of power over the centuries has turned into a management field under the discipline, control and organisation of modern power. The aim of this study is to evaluate the practices over bodies of power based on individuals rights and concerns of privacy by the head-scarf ban in Turkey after 1980. The first part based on the works of Foucault and Agamben subjects the fact that biopolitics seperate the living spaces into two forms and transforms each body into its own object of politics in this seperation. In the living spaces seperated as private and public, both of the two forms of life become a political zone and privacy is out of the meaning covering the whole life. Under the third title, it is mentioned, although the privacy is identified with the private sphere in the modern society, a privacy saved in body, and how the body reflect all the people's actions into their entire life. One of the cut-clear examples of this is the head-scarf which is not just a symbol of religion or a style of attire, but the Muslim Woman wearing a head-scarf carries her body in the public area with her "veil" as an coverture of privacy. For that, the headscarf ban is a practise of biopolitics which desires to reach each body and normalize it, and sustain its own power over the all actions of individuals. The sampling part of this study includes the period from when women wearing head-scarfs were banned from society to the solution of this problem and finding a place in public sphere with headscarves. Besides the method of welding scanning, it is referred the media coverage and some studies about the headscarf ban.
