Unsafe situation and unsafe behavior analysis study in biochemistry laboratories

Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to investigate the unsafe behaviors of the Medical Biochemistry Laboratory technical staff and the response to unsafe situations to create a road map for risk analysis. Within the scope of the study, it was aimed to contribute to the literature by developing the Medical Biochemistry Laboratory Unsafe Behavior Scale (MBLUBS) and the Medical Biochemistry Laboratory Unsafe Situation Scale (MBLUSS). The research study group consists of 389 Medical Biochemistry technical personnel. Scale construct validity was calculated by exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Medical Biochemistry Laboratory Unsafe Behavior Scale has a structure consisting of six dimensions and 36 items, and it was confirmed by CFA and the desired goodness of fit values were reached (x²/df=2,728, GFI= 0,812, CFI= 0,911, IFI= 0,912, TLI= 0,903, RMR=. 052, RMSEA= 0,067). Medical Biochemistry Laboratory Unsafe Situation Scale has a structure consisting of eight sub-dimensions and 36 items, and it was confirmed by CFA and the desired goodness of fit values were reached (x²/df=2,170, GFI= 0,850, CFI= 0,920, IFI= 0,921, TLI= 0,911, RMR= 0,042, RMSEA= 0,055). As a result of the analyses, it was concluded that the Medical Biochemistry Laboratory Unsafe Behavior Scale, consisting of six dimensions and 36 items and the Medical Biochemistry Laboratory Unsafe Situation Scale, consisting of eight sub-dimensions and 36 items, are valid and reliable scales.
