Özet (EN)

Imam al-Qushayrî contributed to establishing Sufism as a branch of science and forming its terminology with his Risâla al-Qushayrî written in 438/1046. Having gained a well-deserved reputation in this respect, al-Risâla ranks first among the classics of Sufism. It can be said that the work impacted on many Sufis and spread throughout Islamic society through translations. It was translated into Turkish for the first time by Sheikh al-Islâm Hoca Sa'îd al-Dîn b. Hasan Can (d. 1008/1599), and another translation was found in a library abroad. The Translation of Risâla al-Qushayrî written in 1025/1616, belongs to Sinân Efendi, an Ushshaki sheikh from Bolayır. Sheikh Sinân Efendi is an Ottoman scholar and sufi who lived from the second half of the 16th century – the first half of the 17th century. This study provides information about the lives and works of Imam al-Qushayrî and Sheikh Sinân Efendi, introduces the Translation of Risâla al-Qushayrî and compares it with the source text. Considering the purposes of writing the two works, attention was drawn to the issues that Sinân Efendi brought to the fore. By focusing on the translator's translation method, the possible reasons for the translator's preferences such as adding, summarizing, and expanding the translation were tried to be determined. At the end of the study, the text of the Translation of Risâle-i Kuşeyrî is given.
