Systematic studies and some bioecological observations ontachinidae (diptera) species in Bolu and Düzce provinces

This study was conducted between 2021 and 2024 to determine the Tachinidae (Diptera) fauna of Düzce and Bolu provinces. For this purpose, tachinids were collected from agricultural, forestry, and other areas (such as meadows, pastures, etc.) in seven districts of Düzce province (Merkez, Akçakoca, Çilimli, Gümüşova, Kaynaşlı, Gölyaka, and Yığılca) and in five districts of Bolu province (Merkez, Seben, Mudurnu, Göynük, and Mengen), together with the plants they visited. Furthermore tachinids which live as parasitoids have been obtained by rearing species from different insect orders under laboratory conditions. As a result of the study, a total of 53 species were identified: 16 species from the subfamily Exoristinae, 9 from Tachininae, 6 from Dexiinae, and 22 from Phasiinae. Among these, Linnaemya picta (Meigen, 1824), Thelaira nigripes (Fabricus, 1794), Macquartia dispar (Fallén, 1820), Phryxe nemea (Meigen, 1824) and Phyllomya volvulus (Fabricius, 1794), are reported as new records for Türkiye. In addition, 9 species from the Tachinidae family were obtained by rearing 9 different hosts. Among the parasitoid-host pairs identified, Linnaemya picta (Meigen, 1824), which was obtained from Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner, 1796) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), represents the first global record, while Phryxe nemea (Meigen, 1824), which was reared from Noctua pronuba (Linnaeus, 1758) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), represents the second global record. In addition, Graphosoma lineatum Linnaeus, 1758 (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), which was determined as a host for Gymnosoma clavatum (Rohdendorf, 1947) and Ectophasia crassipennis (Fabricius, 1794), is a new host record for Türkiye and is also considered a rare host worldwide. The identification keys of the total of 53 species at genus and species vii level were also given. Based on the available literature, information was provided on their worldwide and Turkish distribution, as well as on their hosts in Türkiye. Detailed descriptions of species identified as new records for Türkiye are also included. In addition, a description of the invasive species Trichopoda pictipennis Bigot, 1876, a normally Neotropical species, has spread to Europe in recent years. Furthermore, the tachinids collected with sweep net were found to visit 13 different plants belonging to 10 families.
