Abstract (EN)

Recently, plenty of studies, with the target of the improvement and the amendment of surface features of the steels, have been executed by scientists. Usage of boron for the modification of the steel surfaces, have pointed out presenting beneficial results studies about the features of friction and wear of the steels.Dual phase steels include hard martensite particles and a little retained austenite and bainite phases between 10-30% in the ferrite matrix of ductile and microcrystalline. Microstructures of conventional carbon steels are not usually adequate for plastic strain, when it is applied, there is a possibility of compensation for strength; yet, the features of strength and plasticity could be kept at optimum standard and these features could be changed at wide range by practised temperingin dual phase steels. In this argument, the improvement of surface features of dual phase steels with boronizing technology had been targeted. And in this case, prepared by using SAE 1010 steels? small samples divided into two groups in that study. The first group samples were executed into the dual phase heating process in the phase diagram of FeFe3C between the temperature of(715-720-725-730-740-750-760-770-780-790-800-810-820 C).The samples of second group firstly were boronized in its austenitic face(915 C) within the boronized place for two hours and then before the samples were taken from oven,in the diagram of Fe-Fe3 of between A1-A3 temperature(715-720-725-730-740-750-760-770-780-790-800-810-820 C) were practised into the heating process of dual phase. After this process,on metallographicly prepared and examined in optical microscope, the microstructures for every temperature and the volume ratios of phases were calculated. The parameters of heating process ,that results in the same ratio of martensite volume in both groups for this time, were executed on the samples of test of shrinkage and wearing.Later on shrinkage and wearing tests of the samples have been done.As a result of the study, martensite and ferrite phase had been checked in the microstructure and, furthermore, when the thickness of boron coat (as 35?) was obtained, at the same time dual phase structure(ferrite-martensite) in the microlevel also was obtained after all that heating process. Thus, in this thesis study, three different products as with no treatment, dual phase and boronized dual phase steels was obtained. Within the wearing tests, wearing surface features of boronized dual phase steels exhibited much better results against other groups. Keywords: Dual phase, boron, wear
