Abstract (EN)

Today, boriding process is used quite frequently as a surface hardening process. The most important advantage is that the application is relatively simple and the hardness of the resulting boron layer is relatively high. This hardness also increases the wear resistance of the material. However, the effect of boron treatment on the fracture toughness of the material is a matter of curiosity. Fracture toughness is the resistance of the material to crack propagation. For this reason, the life of the material and, accordingly, the efficiency of the material in the working area are closely related to the fracture toughness. The aim of this study is to examine the change in fracture toughness of boronized steel by boronizing ferritic steel and to investigate the effect of boron layer thickness on fracture toughness.
