Divorced women and ex-husband's violence

Family is the smallest unit within society that is based on marriage and blood relations and comprised by the relationship between parents and their children. Violence is any and all individual or collective actions that cause people physical or psychological damage through force and oppression. When family in Turkey is studied, existence of violence is obviously seen. Women are exposed to violence by their husbands in both rural and urban communities. Domestic violence is all kinds of aggressive behaviour that is used by one partner against his wife and children. The main subject of this research is to study the women (Izmir example) who are exposed to violence by their ex-husbands. The subjects are covered the socio-demographic profile of women who reside in Izmir and are exposed to violence, the reasons for the violence they experience and the effect of what they go through due to violence on themselves.
