Analysis of Botan Valley National Park in terms of alternative tourism

Abstract (EN)

Alternative tourism is a type of tourism that will contribute to the destination when managed successfully, but it can also cause negative consequences such as misuse of natural areas, destruction and cultural degeneration. This study aims to determine the place and importance of Botan Valley National Park within the scope of the tourism potential of Siirt province and to investigate its contributions to provincial tourism. The qualitative research method was used in the study and the data were obtained by semi-structured interview technique. By the purpose of the research, face-to-face interviews were conducted with a total of 9 people, including public institutions and the private sector. The answers given within the scope of the 10-question interview form asked of the participants were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. According to the research, Botan Valley National Park is a significant location for alternative tourism. It also contains a variety of tourism products, and this circumstance will offer extremely substantial benefits for provincial tourism. However, to evaluate this potential and increase the tourist activities in the area, it has been determined that public institutions and organizations, and non-governmental organizations should carry out more intensive and effective promotional and encouraging activities and suggestions presented in this context.
