Cyprus Peace Operation in 1974 is the biggest war of Turkish Republic that occured out of country borders after the declaration of republic and also it is the most effeective war qith regard to its results. As Cyprus island was strategically important, it was defeated by lots of countries during the centuries. When the island conquered by the Ottoman Empire in 1571, the citizens of the island were effected positively in economic, cultural and religional areas. With the Berlin Treaty signed in 1878, England began to govern the Cyprus island. This treaty was the beginning of the negations fort he Turkish people living in Cyprus. By taking courage of English people; the people recognizing themselves as "Roum", increased their repression on Turkish people day by day. Tpier aim was to make "enosis" which means including the Cyprus land in Grece come true. They wanted to get rid of English and Turkish people in the island. In 1960, Cyprus Republic comprising the whole island was founted. The president was Mokories and Dr. Fazıl Küçük was the hepler of him. Turkish people who dreamed living peacefully were disappointed. Because Makarios began to organize a plan called "Akritas Plan" which ained to annihilate all the Turkish people. Although Turkish Republic tried to solve this problem  the violence and repression on Turkish people in cyprus  in United Nations by using its guarantor authority, they couldn't get a result. At the end, on 15th of July in 1974 Greece finished the Makarios's authority ray making a coup to make "enosis" come true. Nikos Sampson began to direct the country. Turkey didn't accept this fait accorepli on the 20th of July 1974, it organized the Cyprus Peace Operation by using its rights wnich are the results of Garanti Treaty signed in 1960.
