Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on reweaving design proposals inspired by Bursa's traditional towel and peshkir weaving heritage using industrial production standards. The literature review reveals that Bursa has a rich textile production tradition extending from the Ottoman period to the present. The study aims to weave design proposals developed from ethnographic research conducted on towels and peşkirs housed in the Bursa City Museum and the Merinos Textile and Industry Museum in line with industrial production standards. Technical analyses of towels and peşkirs examined during this research process provide the study's concrete data. A review of the YÖK database shows no prior study specifically addressing the industrial production of design proposals based on Bursa-originated towels and peşkirs. Thus, reinterpreting these traditional weavings and developing industrially viable designs highlights the significance of this thesis. The research examines Bursa's textile history and culture through literature and evaluates the surface design elements of traditional towel and peshkir examples for their contribution to the proposed designs. During the museum research, the technical characteristics and compositional structures of Bursa towels and peshkirs were analyzed. Photographs and data forms were prepared, and based on this information, design proposals were developed. Weaving drafts were created, and material, color, and technical details were specified for industrial production. The designs were subsequently woven. The study aims to contribute to the literature on Bursa's textile history, highlight the value of ethnographic research in cultural heritage studies, offer unique textile designs reflecting Bursa's culture, and provide valuable findings for researchers, artists, and designers.
