Abstract (EN)
In this study, the mechanical properties of straight, angled (scarf) and curved pipe lap joints with different overlap lengths under torsion in steel pipe joints joined with acrylic structural adhesive were investigated. For this, straight, angled (scarf) and curvilinear models with ØD = 21.3 mm outer, Ød = 15.9 mm inner diameter St-37 galvanized steel pipes with 8, 10, 12 mm overlapping length in male and female form were created. For curvilinear models, radii of curvature of 30 mm, 40 mm and 50 mm were created on the forehead regions and modeled in three dimensions. Numerical analyzes of the created models were carried out in the ANSYS Workbench program, and samples with an overlap length of 10 mm and a radius of curvature of 30, 40 and 50 were prepared on the CNC (Computer Numeric Control) workbench to verify the numerical analysis. The prepared male and female specimens were joined using an acrylic-based DP810 structural adhesive resistant to humid environments, curable at room temperature, and validation experiments were carried out. The numerical and experimental data obtained after the study showed that the amount of load carried by the pipe overlap joints subjected to torsional moment in pipe overlap joints with the same overlap length but different geometries was observed to change significantly and it was observed that the amount of load they carried increased as the curvilinear radius and overlap length increased. In addition, stress analyzes were made depending on the overlap length and radii of curvature of the study and compared.
