Abstract (EN)
The increasing proliferation of big data and advancements in data analytics are fundamentally transforming architectural design processes. This thesis investigates the role and impact of big data within the architectural field, focusing on how vast datasets and analytical techniques are influencing traditional and digital design workflows. Through a detailed exploration of the concepts of data, information, and knowledge, the study outlines how data-driven approaches reshape the way architects conceptualize, develop, and optimize designs. The research examines the transition from traditional intuition-based design models to digital, adaptive, and performance-oriented methodologies, highlighting the critical principles and techniques of data analytics relevant to architecture. It further analyzes contemporary practices such as adaptive design, generative systems, and performance-based strategies that are enabled by big data integration. The study concludes by reflecting on the opportunities and challenges posed by big data, emphasizing the necessity for interdisciplinary collaboration, ethical considerations, and the evolution of architectural education to equip future practitioners. The work also suggests future research directions, particularly in the development of intelligent, user-responsive architectural environments.
