A phenomenological research on the social suicide phenomenon from Byung-Chul Han's performance subject

Subject debates have a long and important place in the history of sociology. Modern subject debates, which started with Descartes and continued recently with Byung-Chul Han, have been defined with different conceptual forms. The performance conceptualization defined by Han is one of them. Han's conceptualization of performance has also revealed many different social typologies. All of the conceptualizations made by Han in her/his works are concepts that support each other and do not contradict each other. In particular, the social typologies she/he defines as transparency, fatigue and palliative are concepts that give rise to and support each other. However, there are also subjects and groups outside the subject and social structure defined by Han. In the study, these individuals were defined with the conceptualization of social suicide. Although the concept seems to be similar to conceptualizations such as social isolation, social loneliness and hikikomori, the obvious differences and features in the concept eliminate the similarity. This thesis study, which emerged as a result of qualitative research within the scope of purposeful sampling, was carried out by interviewing a total of ten people. The interviews were analyzed with Maxquda, one of the analysis methods of qualitative research.
