Investigation of relationship between cognitive flexiblity level and social problem solving styles at Çağ University students' in which attending department of international trade and logistic and psychology

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between cognitive flexibility and social problem solving of university students attitudes and styles and whether these two variables have changed according to gender, age, and socioeconomic levels, number of siblings. The study was carried out with a total of 183 students in 2019- 2020 academic year at Çağ University which attending their department International Trade and Logistic and Psychology. The datawere collected by " Cognitive Flexibility Scale " adapted to Turkish by Gülüm and Dağ (2012) to measure cognitive flexibility, and Social Problem Solving Inventory- Short Form (SPÇE-KF) adapted to Turkish by Çekici (2009) to measure social problem solving styles. In order to determine the students'personal information and socioeconomic level, the researcher has created "Personal Information Form". Spearman Correlation Coefficient, Independent Samples t-Test and One-Way Variance Analysis (Anova) were used to analyse. It was found that there was a positive correlation between cognitive flexibility and social problem solving styles. The level of cognitive flexibility did not show a significant difference according to gender of the participants. There was a significant difference between rational problem solving and gender: female students had higher rational problem solving style than male students, There was no significant relationship between age and cognitive flexibility level. There was no significant relationship between age and social problem solving styles. According to economic level there was no significant difference at the level ofcognitive flexibility. According to economic level there was a significant difference at negative orientation to the problem. According to department there was no significant difference at cognitive flexibility. According to department there was a significant difference at negative orientation to the problem, impulsive careless and avoidant attitude. According to number of siblings there was no significant relationship at cognitive flexibility and social problem solving. According to mother's education level there was no significant relationship at cognitive flexibility and social problem solving. According tofather's education level there was a significant difference at cognitive flexibility sub-dimensions control. According to father's education level there was no significant relationship at social problem solving styles.
