Transformation of art field of activity in contemporary art

The purpose of this study is to determine the transformation occurring in the field of art activities in contemporary art through a literature review method. Contemporary art, which emerged from the 1960s onwards, is a term that refers to the art of today following modern art. Artists have questioned traditional art rules and experimented with different forms of expression, and with the progress in globalization and communication technologies, art has become more accessible and gained an international dimension. Additionally, emphasizing social and political issues has become a common trend. One of the most significant changes in contemporary art is the shift in the perception of space, moving beyond galleries and museums to become part of the viewers' daily lives. With this change, new art disciplines such as land art, public art, installation art, performance art, video art, and digital art have emerged. Land art integrates the natural environment as part of the artwork, while public art involves the display of art in public spaces, aiming to contribute to urbanization. Installation art aims to engage and influence the viewer by utilizing the characteristics of the space, and performance art utilizes the living body as a medium for art, encouraging direct interaction with the audience. Video and digital art, on the other hand, have emerged as art forms that adapt to the digital age, capturing the attention of the digitally inclined generation. These transformations not only demonstrate the evolution of art but also aim to provide viewers with different experiences. Contemporary art, with the use of new technologies, has developed innovative approaches and expanded the boundaries of art display.
