Abstract (EN)
Representation is the formalization of an abstract concept. The representation of a situation, intuition or thought is a way of expressing that phenomenon. Patriarchal societies have adopted stereotypical representations of women by keeping the female identity within a certain framework (such as the duty of womanhood, being a mother). Until the 20th century, there was an established order based on the oppression of women in public and private spheres, the restriction of their living spaces and the unequal rights granted to men and women. This study focuses on the efforts made by women's rights defenders to overturn this order with the feminist movement. Negative behaviors such as the lack of equality between women and men in the field of art, not including the works of women artists in museums and ignoring the works of women artists are exhibited. Efforts to ensure that women are not ignored in private and public spheres are rewarded. In this research, the traumas caused by the personal and sociocultural oppression, violence, exclusion and social disengagement experienced by women and the reflections of these traumas on art are discussed. Trauma is the intensity of emotion that wounds and exhausts a person to the extent that the factors experienced or witnessed by the person cannot overcome psychologically and emotionally. By investigating the place of trauma on art, the healing effect of art on trauma was questioned and it was observed that emotions can be explained and traumas can be alleviated by expressing traumas through art. The emotional state of social, physical and psychological traumas on the person and the expression of pain through art as a representation of pain are discussed. The traumatic emotions observed in the works of artists were analyzed, the works were interpreted and their connections with trauma were established. As a result of the reflection of the traumas experienced, it is aimed to make traumatic emotions visible by embodying them in the works.
