Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to examine the place of abstraction in Contemporary Turkish Art in the figurative concept of art within a theoretical frame. This research is important in the aspect of understanding how a figure becomes abstract differentiating on a composition and comes to different points.In the first part of the research, besides the definition of figure, figurative art and abstraction, the impact of geometrical and expressionist abstraction on European Art is also referred by emphasizing the place and importance of the figure in the history of art.The second part of the research is about the place and the historical development of the figure and figurative abstraction in Contemporary Turkish Art. This part tells us about the first formation and the development of the figure starting with the miniature and continuing with the Western Art concept. The tendencies arose by the Union of Individual Artists and Sculptors, and following movements of art, groups and the manner of expressing figurative art, technique, the differences occurring in the subject and understanding in these groups are also studied in this part of the research.In the third part of the research, the paintings of the artists Fikret Mualla, Mehmet Güleryüz, Burhan Uygur, Mustafa Ata and Mustafa Horasan who use figurative abstraction in Contemporary Turkish Art are analyzed.Keywords: Figurative Art; Abstraction; Figurative Abstraction; Union of Individual Artists and Sculptors; Contemporary Turkish Art.
