Relation of figurative painting with culture in modern Turkish painting

In this research, it is aimed to discuss reflection of cultural change in Modern Turkish Painting Art to Figurative Painting in a theoritical frame. This research has importance in the view of understanding of today?s figurative painting. The reseach designed in document scanning method was restricted to artists painting figurative paintings in Modern Turkish Painting and their works.In the research, figurative paintings, trends and approaches placed in the history of Europian Painting breifly explained by expressing place and importance of figure.In the second chapter of the research in the headline of occurance of Modern Turkish Painting and figurative painting, change of duration started from Miniature to painting tradition was placed by expressing there has been figure in Turkish Art. Developments in all areas started with founding of Republic and developments in art area included these developments were given by expressing importance of `Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi? in figurative painting. After Republic art groups and expression method, topic, technique and understanding changes occured in these groups were examined.New events in social and economic area after 1950 have affected art field, new approaches and different perspectives have been bruoght. 1980s have been a period in which new developments, changes and art movements have been occured. In addition to this, figurative and abstract painting have been discussed by academic fields. Artists tried to find a new including to figurative painting.Effecting of social, ideal and technologic changes in the world and in Turkey on art world and reflection of them to figurative painting besides the new art movements were discussed.Key words: Figurative Painting; Art Movements; Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi; Modern Turkish Painting.
